So, I have this orange beast dripping oil in my garage for the last year. What the hell am I gonna do with it? Well, there are 3 main areas I would like to tackle.
#1) Sagging Suspension
#2) Engine that won't idle
#3) Top & Interior

#1) Ok, I love most old cars, but nothing beats old pontiac convertibles, the firebirds and GTO's were the cream of the crop when it comes to GM. You can't beat the lines and nose's on these cars. Unfortunatley the handling and braking suck ass on these cars. I mean REALLY suck, especially ones with 4 wheel drum brakes, they take forever to stop. Plus handling is horrible to boot, some of the older ones had 20:1 steering box ratios that took 4 turns from one side to another. They also cornered like a dog with no hips.

I am going to change all that and go with BIG disk brakes, FAT sway bars, high rate springs/shocks and boxed rear control arms. That is another reason I went with this car, It wasn't a GTO. I would feel real guilty doing these mods to a "true" GTO. I am going to do these mods before I put it out on the road

#2) The engine. This thing currently has a 400/TH 400. What I would really like to do is put a 455/T56-6speed combo in it. But that means 4-6K at least and some minor surgery, so thats gonna wait. But it still idles like shit, so that will also have to be addressed before I drive it on the street.

#3) I have have had a convertible top with a glass window sitting in storage for 4 years, I will put that on sometime this summer when i get an extra 5-7 hunred sneakers to blow on installing it. The one on it is ripped but it will suffice for a few months. The Interior is far better than any other old convertible I've had, but I still bought some door panels from Year-1 for about 500 bucks, those will go on soon. I wanna update the dash with a new/full gauge package, but do it tastefully. The former owner just jammed a SUN tachometer in where the clock should be. It looks like crap. But I think I will wait until the frame off to do this.

So, that leaves the Suspension and engine to do before summer hits. Check out the listing on the right for details about them.
