Rotten Bird

Ok, I picked up this wreck of a firebird in March 2002. Thanks to Dave and Buddy for helping me flat bed this thing to my house. I Don't know if I got screwed to bad, but its good to be working on a Pontiac again. The amount of mold and mice & wasp nests inside the car was truly outstanding. it looked like someone hid a pillow behind the kick panel. So, Here is the ultimate plan.

1) Toss out the OHC and stuff in a Pontiac 455 (got 1 in the garage!).
2) Junk the awe inspiring 2 speed automatic for a Tremac TKO or T-56 (aint 6 speeds sexy!).
3) Build a custom crossmember ala Detroit Speed.
4) Detroit Speed Upper Control Arms & Subframe Connectors.
5) 12" Corvette brakes for the front, I would go with 13" but wanna stick with 15-16" tires.
6) 1980 8.5 10 bolt from Trans Am with rear discs (Got that in my garage too!).
7) Replace & patch every rusty panel which means I have to replace EVERY PANEL on the car except the trunk lid
8) Firebird 400 hood and hood tach, rally cluster. (Just got a REAL GM one Real Nice!)
9) Basically replace EVERYTHING on the stupid car, interior, top, floors, doors, wiring, etc. etc.

This will be a brutal project, but this will be the car I have always dreamed of. It would have been easier to buy one that was already done, but it wouldn't have all the features that I want. Another good thing about it is that if I complete it, I would have saved a classical pontiac from the scrap heap, at least until the next asshole runs a red light and t-bones me! Here is a runing total of my folly.
